Our goal is to keep the alumni of Grandfather Mountain Home connected by encouraging communication through publications and person-to-person contacts.
News from our Alumni group
As our new calendar year unfolds, we are looking forward to the beginning of the Grandfather Home Centennial Celebration. The schedule of events and dates are listed on this web site under the heading of "Centennial" on the Home page. You will see the Centennial icon on the upper right corner of the page.
A note from the Alumni president
I am told that the Centennial Celebration Kick Off Day, May 18, was a huge success, despite the rainy weather conditions. I know that several of our Alumni were present to enjoy the festivities. In fact, a photo of a few alumni made the front cover of The Banner Daily, a local news source.
As the celebration continues into the month of July, I encourage you to make plans now to attend one or both days of the Homecoming Weekend, July 27 and 28, 2013. The Down Home Dinner and Festival will take place at the main campus, the Hayes campus, Banner Elk, 2:00 PM - 8:00 PM, Saturday, July 27, 2013. Admission to the festival is free. Advanced registration for the free BBQ dinner at 6:00 PM is required. Please contact Adam Hicks by phone at 828-898-5465 ext. 521 or email him at email@example.com. Please make your reservations before July 12th. Entertainment, including a musical variety show, will be provided during the dinner.
The next day, Sunday, July 28 is the Alumni Homecoming Luncheon, 12:00 PM till 2:00 PM. We are grateful that this event is usually a high attendance day for the alumni. We reserve the Centennial Room for our annual alumni meeting, immediately following the luncheon. The meetings are usually short but it gives us a chance to visit for a few minutes and set a few goals for the future. We sure hope to see you there.
Again, we look forward to seeing each of you. Travel safely,
